Sell my timeshare

Every day we receive calls, emails, letters and even sometimes a rare fax from customers who ask the question "Sell my timeshare". With over 5000 timeshare resorts, products and points and multi destination ownerships across the world it is important to have these helpful points available so you have the required information when you decide to ask "please sell my timeshare".

we have compiled a list of what we believe to be the 10 most important points to consider when you begin to discuss the sale of your timeshare ownership. This list is by no means all points to consider and we are always interested in comments, views from timeshare owners so feel free to leave your comments after this post.

1. Where are my timeshare ownership documents, certificate, escritura or title deed. Make sure you can find these documents or at least know how to apply for a copy if required. A quality timeshare resale company should be able to advise you of how to obtain replacement documents if required.

2. What timeshare do I own. Sounds like a strange point but knowing exactly what you own is so important. Check your week number or floating season ownership type or how many points you are allocated each year. A reputable timeshare resale company who can help you sell your timeshare will need this important information.

3. Maintenance Fee. Your annual maintenance fees need to be up to date or at least know if you have just been invoiced by your maintenance company how much is due. Have this information to hand when you speak to the resale company.

4. How much is my timeshare worth. A good quality timeshare company should be able to offer you advice on the resale value and give you so past performance and advice. Make sure you dig out your original paperwork and have an idea of what you paid and where you hope to be when you sell.

5. Timeshare description. What are the great points about your timeshare ownership. Be ready with some bullet points. Local information. Is there a beach nearby or a favourite restaurant or great swimming pool. Any information like this builds up a better picture of your exact ownership. A timeshare resale company will have lots of resort information and local area amenities, however specific information about your ownership is really important and ensure you give this to your resale company of choice.

6. Free registration. Make sure the company you deal with offers you free registration of your details and do not ask you for any money to simply register your details. All good resale companies will offer free registration and will never ever charge you for administration or legal fees.

7. Advertising and Marketing. So it's going to take exposure through advertising and marketing to find potential purchasers for your ownership. Ask the resale company how they deal with this and of course if they are carrying out specific work for you find out about costs.

8. Commission. It would probably be one of my first questions. Find out who pay's the commission. Again quality timeshare companies should have a simple answer to this but be sure to ask and find out. In the research we have carried out the top 4 companies operating within the European market always pass commission payments to the purchaser.

9. Transfer of ownership. So when you have the all-important offer you need to know who handles the transfer of ownership. Obviously you want to be sure this is completed correctly and a professional resale outfit will have knowledge and onsite staff in their administration team who can advise of the exact procedure.

10. 14 Days. Be sure you are dealing with a resale company who comply with the 14 day cooling off period. You want to be sure you have the right to change your mind if required.

With a little homework and research you can find some excellent timeshare resale companies who have knowledge, understanding and great in depth understanding of timeshare resorts and products across the world.

If in doubt you can always contact TATOC Timeshare Association who will provide you with a list of reputable timeshare resale companies.
